I just read this thread (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?p=573599). This is cool, I want this!
Since this felt more like a "hack" question than a pro sales question I decided to start a thread in smugmug customization...
So now I have to ask the question, other than using your bio (which is where my currently have my slide show), is there any way to easily populate the contents of the description meta tag?
I suppose I could put in some text at the beginning of my bio and not make it visible in hopes that it gets picked up and put in my description tag, but I'm looking for something more elegent. Any ideas?

Add it to your bio, it's still active but the slideshow is just hiding it.

I finally got around to trying your suggestion. The slide show doesn't hide the text. But that's probably okay. I just need to think about what I want to say and what I want it to look like.

Perhaps, but the bio box is the closest thing they have to a site description without adding something new to the control panel. Besides, for most people a bio is going to be very similar or the same thing as their site description.
As for me, I wanted to have a slide show only on my homepage and the easiest way to do that was to put it in my bio box, but now I need to reconsider how I'm using that bio box.

Add all the text you want to your bio. If you're using the bio box for
a slideshow the text won't show on your homepage but if you look at
the page source it's there.

You can hack your bio box and use it as a site description. And then if you want a bio, you can create a gallery and put that in as a gallery description. And then of course it can't be a public gallery, so you'll need a navigation menu just to create a link to it.
It can be done.
But it's ugly, and it shouldn't be needed. Why not just give us a box to put in a site description, instead of spending maybe the same amount of programming time to create an ugly hack? Maybe spend a little more time. But the problem with a hack like this is that once SM build a real solution, lots of people are going to have problems again...
In the long run, we'd have been better off if this hack wasn't implemented now and they'd have spent some time to take a real good look at how to create a structural solution instead of a hack.
