Bought my daughter a mac book mini - first mac in the house ever. When we were buying it, my husband was flabberghasted that it could run MS Office!

I can't wait to give it a test run.

And I picked up a used Wii today too!

He'll be even more flabbergasted when you tell him that

1) it can run Office on 2 platforms, if you add Windows to the Mac, and

2) Historically, Microsoft Word (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Word#Versions), Excel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Excel#Versions), and PowerPoint (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_PowerPoint) appeared on the Mac before they were ever available on Windows. (Although Word did exist as an MS-DOS app before the Mac version.)

Edit: Added wikipedia history links

(Word was first available in a non-Windows version for PCs, then on Macs, then on Windows. Excel and PowerPoint started on the Mac.)

Exactly! Not too many people know/remember that!:thumb

Now, that is something that I did not know!! Great trivia!

We have had two hard drive losses in the last couple of weeks due to some nasty, creepy trojan, so it shouldn't be long before we all go Mac!

And if he spends a lot of time in the MS Office suite, let him try out apple's iWork apps "Pages" (akin to Word) and "Keynote" (akin to powerpoint) for a little bit and he'll be just as flabbergasted at how easy it is to make a quality document/presentation in those apps vs the office equivalent. There are weeks I live in Keynote making presentations for work. I still hate those weeks, but they go by with a lot less swearing at the machine when I use keynote than when I used powerpoint. (you should get demo copies of both apps on the new machine... and they're able to read/write MS Office files pretty well... some of my coworkers still don't know I use Pages for editing their .doc files and sending them back. :)

And welcome to the world of mac. :thumb
