Up until recently, I had a standard slideshow showing a random image with a border. I was toying with learning flash and hosting a flash slideshow on another site, but I decided to do something slightly different with the existing slideshow code.

So what do you think of it? Any comments?
Has anyone else done anything else interesting with the slideshow?
I did it by just making a sequence of images with more and more pictures overlaid on top of the others. In photohop, if you user "layer comps", it is really easy to export each layer view to a jpg (file>scripts>layer comp to files). I change the slideshow variables so that the slideshow goes in sequential order, rather than random.
Thanks,
Scott

Very cool idea! :thumb
If you want help in imagining how Scott did this, have a look at the gallery (http://scwalter.smugmug.com/gallery/2970778#160682796) where the slideshow takes the photos from. Totally non-coding solution even though it looks complicated. :wink

This is really cool, Scott!!! Could be fun, too! You just gave me a neat idea for a Father's Day gift of some photos I took of my nephew and his son....I can upload the gallery (assuming I have time to do this!!!) to his Smugmug site. Thanks for sharing. :thumb
(Oops...that won't work...he doesn't have an upgraded site for customizing and adding a slideshow...)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. As Sebastian says, look at the gallery and you'll see it's just a sequence of images.

Combined with the following slideshow variables to make it look right:
randomSlides = false;
showSlideTransition = false;
In Photoshop I have one big file that has each image on a separate layer, I created a "layer comp" for each slide I want. The "layer comp" stores the visiblity of the layers, so with only one image visible, I create the first layer comp. I turn on the second slide (adjust and rotate as desired) and create a second layer comp. One hint, when creating a layer comp, if you hold the ALT key when hitting the new layer comp button, it will not prompt you for a name and just adds a new layer comp. I continued to do this for all the slides I wanted and then run file>scripts>layer comps to files and it will export each layer comp view as a jpg automagically.
