I would go for the 1st one: really creepy looking tree with the foggy atmosphere. It's like a octopus reaching out. :D

The 2nd is too dull (would need more 'pop' in my eyes) and the street is a bit distracting.

I agree, the first tree is beautifully creepy. The nice thing about the second one, though, is the blue color, which gives me more of a predominant color feel. I'm not sure if I'm making too much of that though.

Well I would remove the stree but we can't :)

I really like the first one myself also, didn't think it would come out as well as it did.

I definitely like the composition of the first photo and the mysterious lighting. Just the kind of shot I'd print and frame of the wall:thumb

To be honest, the second shot is just more of a snap shot to me. Kind of like the shutter was accidently tripped. Doesn't even hold a candle to your first shot!

Love that first shot! The second one just seems blurry to me. I just keep staring at that first tree. I love the detail. :thumb

Oh the first one made me hold my breath, like when you're watching a scary movie and you're looking through the eyes of the protagonist and you're expecting to be grabbed by something awful.....this one is truly nice. I love the diffused lighting and it nicely compliments the gnarling of the branches. Very very nice. :clap

It was my understanding that we weren't allowed to us PS this go round? Here are the posted rules for No PS challenges
*** when we have a no-photoshop challenge, the following applies ***
only basic editing is allowed. this includes minor adjustments in color, contrast, exposure, sharpness. black and white conversion is allowed (including toning for same). that's it - no cloning, filters, special effects, etc.
