Hello all, I just came snooping around from ADVrider and this look like it sould be a good place. Thanks Baldy for another one. Do you ever sleep?
I've been casualy into photography my whole life starting with my grandmother renting to Brooks students from the time I was five. The first ones turned half of the garage into a darkroom and she just continued to rent to the students for about 30 years! In my teens I worked with Brookies at a grocery and later lived with one for a couple years. Now I have a couple that are both Brooks grads living in my rental unit upstairs. (made them sign a "no processing clause" in the lease) :deal: Even though I've been around all these photo bugs, I'm just a rank amature whose taken a bunch of pics. Kind of grew tired of film and the expence and all and hadn't done much in several years. Digital is new and has got me fired up again taking lots of shots. Picked up a real cheap point and shoot for a while and just bought a Canon A80. Now starting to work with Photoshop Elements. I hope to learn some tricks around hear.
Here's a panorama that I like.

I need to find some wide open spaces to try out some real panos. This is my first. It is four photos total. I used the new photo merge in PS vCS. It worked well and I cleaned it up a bit. The photos were shot handheld and having the rocks closer than the waterfall made it come together a little messy, but it gets the point across.

:thumb: Nice Ian, and thanks. That shot is 10-15 miles from the Songdog. You coming down for the shindig in a couple of months? This spot can be on fire with wild flowers then and is part of 120mi loop with 40+ miles of dirt.

Depending on when the sun sets and moon rises the best thing to do would be to shoot at late dusk, away from the sun (sun to your back) so you have some blue left in the sky and everything else will have a little light so it is not black. Shooting with moon light is tricky and typically requires a high iso or really long exposures. Once it gets completely dark experiment around to see what works best, if it is digital it will be tricky depending on what camera you have. Some have faster lenses and work better with long exposures.

I know it's not that, but I don't know what it was. The faint smell was really nice. It was a gorgeous weekday. I rode for miles and saw no one.

It looks like a great road to ride.
I noticed a little blue flower in the lower left of the frame too.
Time to dig out the flower book.

My panorama at the start of this thread was taken in November but the area is noted for it's wild flowers in spring. The ridge running up the left is the San Andres fault. Very interesting area, here 's a link. Quite a few miles of dirt roads in the area.
