the light was kinda working against me.
they have 2 chicks but I have not gotten any shots of them yet.

They look pretty big, the red feathers on the head are quite striking.

Don't you hate it when that happens? Light is such a tricksy thing. :D
Regardless, you still ended up with some really nice shots!

Looks like they let you get fairly close. For us northerners, these are exotic birds! Aren't they fun to watch?
Yeah, it would have been nice to have a better light...but, sometimes you take what you get or you get nothing.:D

they are nesting down the road from me in a grassy swamp. these were taken when they were close to the road. I still needed most of my 500mm.

They look pretty big, the red feathers on the head are quite striking.

Nice shots in extremely harsh light! Sandhill Cranes are so graceful!

Good captures in difficult lighting. Try to get shots of the chicks while you can. They grow at an amazing rate.
