For those who don't know, when I am not taking pictures (on trips and weekends), I am an attorney). Yesterday, I was admitted to the US Supreme Court. So, I decided to make a weekend of it. Here it is.....
We stayed in the Hotel Monaco (great deal on Priceline) on F Street. The hotel is housed in a historical building which is a converted Post Office.

I hadn't been to DC in some time, so we did some of the basic tourist stuff...
The US Botanical Gardens:

The Washington Monument:

The next day, we went to the Spy Museum (but no photographs were allowed). Then, after a late afternoon reception, we headed back to the Mall and saw Jefferson, Lincol and FDR.
Jefferson:

The FDR Memorial was really fascinating. There are four outdoor "rooms" which each signify one of his terms. I loved it and would be interested to go back when it was light out.

After leaving FDR, we got a better view of the Washington and Jefferson Memorials:

Monday, was the big day at the Supreme Court.

Before being sworn in, there was a breakfast reception in a room next to the courtroom. This is a room not generally open to the public. Sometimes the justices come by and say hi, but there were none to be found (aside from on the bench).

Not surprisingly, there are no cameras allowed in the chamber. Needless to say, it was a thrilling event. While we were there, the judges also announced a few important decisions from the bench which have been widely reported in the news.
