THis is my first post. I live in Western Australia, and our state emblem is the black swan, so I thought this was a good way to start:

I agree completely. Great detail - extremely difficult on black feathers or fur.

Thanks for the welcome guys - I live only a few hundred metres from a breeding colony of these swans, so they're fairly common around here. Yes, the blacks are a challenge, but I guess white swans are difficult to shoot as well.

Skippy - glad to boost the Aussie numbers by one. I've had a quick look around and I like the work and advice on the site. I'll post some more stuff later.

Yes, very nice shots. The last one is my favorite with the water droplets coming from the bill of the swan. Excellent exposure as well considering all the black. :thumb

The first head shot was with 1.4TC + 300/4.
