Traffic violation

Since this involves cameras I thought I'd pose a question to the family of Grinners. :lol3

I was recently nabbed by traffic cameras for "allegedly" running a red light. Now I'm not saying I did and I'm not saying I did not run the light.

Let's all just agree that if (IF) I ran the light, it was unavoidable and justifiable. However, without a real life policeman to discuss the matter I'm forever branded a criminal destined to pay a hefty fine and complete a round at traffic school. :huh

I have heard rumblings of perfectly legal ways of successfully contesting these camera cops based on various issues of third party contractors, faulty shutter firings, etc etc etc, blah, blah, blah, and so on.

Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Yep, I do. I succesfully fought off a false identification charge from a speed camera. I got the ticket in the mail. I raised hell until they finally realized that a white avalanche is not the same a gold jeep cherokee.

That and I was 5 hours away and at work at the time...

I know that you are looking for more info related to if you actually did it and trying to justify it. All I can say is good luck. The contractors will claim that their hands are tied and the public servants will claim that they are bound by the law.

Mythbusters had an episode on those cameras a while ago (whether it's possible to beat/avoid/trick). The result was one of the consensus votes: they are as foolproof as they can be.
Sorry, I know it's not waht you wanted to hear, but I don't have any other info. :dunno

I've been advised there actually is an ordinance in CA state law that makes 3rd party enforcement illegal. I have a lot of research ahead of me to find it and then mounting a successful fight.

I dunno Angelo ... you look guilty as hell, (culpable of more heinous crime than a traffic violation), ... any judge with even an ounce of conscience would want to see you off the streets for the good of society ... sorta like Alphonso Capone .... better to send you to the big house on a small charge than not sent you away at all.

HA... nothin I hate more than a lousy meaningless traffic ticket. If they got you on camera running a red then they got you. Nothing you can do about it if its your vehicle in the intersection on red. Find a way to deduct a couple extra hundred bucks off your taxes next year and make your money back..thats what I try to do :rofl

From what I hear they have internet access now in jail, so at least you can Mod Dgrin from a nice 6x8 cell. If you have a choice, go with Twin Towers jail on the south side of the street. Multi-story with windows, this should afford a great view of the Los Angeles skyline.

If having free room and board; a beautiful view of the skyline is not for you, take it to court.
