...going to be? There is a spring that feeds the waters of the marsh. These aquatics were teaming at the inlet to the marsh that remains unfrozen.

I've seen tadpoles before, but never this large. Some of these were 7 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide.:scratch

A quick google told me that they could be bullfrog tadpoles. They can stay in this state for two years reaching that size. When they transform, they can be as large as adults in other species.

I'd say keep you eye on them & try to get some pics as they start to grow legs & lose the tail. Could be a real cool series.

I will keep an eye on them. Actually they are much larger than they were two weeks ago. There were minnows in this same place, but they are gone now. Hmmmm...?

I hope you can keep track of them as they grow - my other choice for what they could be is salamanders. It will be neat to find out!

...I will try to keep track, but I have a feeling once the marsh thaws, that will be that.

...for commenting. Nature always provides something of interest. We only have to do a little exploring. Sometimes that's more fun than getting the photo.
