Finally I found a Lady Bug, well she was in the Apple Tree so we went on a field trip to the Geranium Bush we did :rolleyes
She is covered in orange pollen from the centre of the flower.
The bush only had 3 flowers that are a deep yet brilliant multi tones of deep purple's and mauve's.
I am not going to improve on sharpness till I get my flash bracket, as I don't have hands big enough, or strong enough to hold the Canon 580 flash in one hand as well as the Canon 20 and all that I stack on it in the other.
These shots were taken with a Canon 20D, Canon 100mm Lesn + Canon Ext 1.4 + all Three Kenko Tubes + Canon 580 Flash all hand held (stuggled :D )
Enjoy :D ...... Skippy

Skippy found a bug?! :D
That first image deserves to be printed large and framed! Love the composition and the color -well done!!! :bow
As for the sharpness: What Fstop were you shooting at? Diffraction should kick in at about F11 with the setup you used, and that's going to actually hurt you more than camera shake (the flash is probably firing fast enough to freeze the scene).

Hi there :D I was shooting at F8, my big problem is trying to balance all that in a most awkward manner that I truly stuggle to do, I am unable to brace the camera firmly with two hands because I hold the Flash off the camera beside the lens ....... when I get my flash bracket I wont have to worry about that :D
Thanks for looking :thumb ... Skippy

You did an excellent job on the lighting -most peeps don't know how reflective lady bugs are... :thumb
Don't rely on that flash bracket 100% of the time -experiment with different angles. One thing that bit me in the back side early on was getting locked into a set way of shooting every shot...

Thanks you Brian, I didn't have to do much post processing, usually I will hit the image with some extra colour, but not these ones.
I just did Levels, Curves and Sharpening, and cropped the sides a bit.
Your a great teach Brian :clap ..... Skippy

Hey there Serrator...... I was lucky to find this one.
This is an exceptionally big one too, compaired to the normal Red and Black ones we have.
I took it out of the Apple tree because it was on a leaf that I had no hope of photographing it on, and placed it in the pretty geranium flower.
Thanks for looking :D .... Skippy

Thanks tlee :D now if only I could find more bugs.
We've had a bit of rain, not much, but maybe enough to draw something out....hopefully we will get more rain, as we desperately need it.
