What do you think of the b/w conversion? What do you think of the capture?
I want to print this on Mettalic paper..will it look good?

It looks like an excellent conversion to me, and a great capture, my only beef is I like to see eyes, but that's just a personal thing, you've captured a lovely family moment.

Good B&W. Good pose. Nice moment. But the vignetting makes it look contrived, artificial. It look like you photoshopped the group onto a different background, or used a backdrop.
Is that bad? Depends what you're going for. If the client likes it, then that may be all you wanted. If you what you want to achieve is an artistic portrait, then that's another story.

Hi,
Appreciate your comments. Thanx. As for what I was going after in this picture, it is to be a little artsy.
I want it to be a unique picture for them and thus the effects.
anyone else?

I agree with Gary's critique except that the vignetting doesn't bother me, especially given the "artsy" feel. And he's right about BG. It doesn't look like they are really there. Perhaps some softening of the transistion from people to BG, or a less OOF on the BG would help.
But the conversion is very good. Like the tones.

Very nice. Great tones. No eyes seems OK here, but I agree on smoothing out the transition. Also if you could draw out a little detail in the parent's hair, I think it would be nice.

I agree with everything that has been said already about the background. The vignetting is subtle and a matter of personal preference. It does not bother me. I really like the pose alot. The lack of any eye contact at all makes it less personal for me. It seems less like a portrait and more like an advertisement in a magazine. In fact, it might make an excellent stock photo. It is still a very strong family image and I'm sure they will be pleased with it.

ok...thanx everyone for your comments. Now I am going back to the picture and adjusting what was mentioned here.
The problem is that I didn't change the depth of field look at all. It was how the original was. So, I will see if I can maybe make a better transition.
I will post back here after my changes. :)

ok..I brought in the detail from the hair and blurred the edges of the people to more sort of blend it in. Not sure if I did this the right way. What do you think>

Can you get rid of or at least tone down the white yarn on her shoulder blade? Other than that I like the whole shot.:clap
