Two friends celebrate the first snow of the year in western North Carolina. A winter day on the John's River is good for the soul.

I can see that the soul would be calmed. Lovely.

DD,

Nice shots. My friend Mel Lammers who is on the board every now and then is a Kayaker. He would like these shots alot.

Thanks for sharing!

I really like the play of the bright colors in the subdued background. Nicely done.

Looks like I made it out of Raleigh just in time :D

The weather in Cary was in the high 20's on Friday. Imagine my shock having
brought just the lite jacket :D

These are beautiful! I like your partner in the sticks. Definetly looks relaxing but
very cold.

I guess it was cold but when you're paddling it doesn't seem to matter. We'd been planning to go as soon as it snowed and the timing was right. Nature always seems to deliver. :thumb

Where is the river in relation to Cary?

I'm hoping I'll get to go back and spend a few days. Very pretty area (what I
saw in the few hours I was there).

John's River is about 4 hours west of Cary and just a bit north of I-40. It's headwaters begin on the southern slopes of Grandfather Mtn., one of the highest mtn's. east of the Mississippi River.

Cool. So you'd take I-40 the whole way. Not bad. But if I do go back in the
near future, I'll be sure and take a warmer jacket :D

NRS Hydroskins are my favorite cold water gear. I don't even think about going out where a Mustang (dry suit) would be needed. LOL

NIce shots.:clap
