Ready for a whip: my mouse

So this is my first post for a whipping. :D
I tried to make a pet picture that would not be boring.
What do you think about that image?

Mouse is way underexposed.
Rings are disorienting. My eyes try to settle somewhere on the image and the rings don't let me. I'm pretty sure if the mouse was properly exposed, this wouldn't be as problematic.There's a few other things I could be really nit picky about, but I'll be stoked to see these big changes.

Great concept. Not bad execution. I agree about the exposure. You may have enough light there that you can brighten enough to be acceptable. If not, reshoot with a little more light in front of subject. Fortunately, mouse models work cheap! I love the color. Definitely not just another pet photo!
