8x ND What else do you use yours for?

I purchased a Hoya 8x ND for my WaterFall pics after reading many discussions about em.
Exactly how do you use yours?
I see they have many uses and I wanna be completly familiar with what I need to do.

Never used one before and just want the skinny on them. :scratch
I'm gonna use it on my Sony 828 (Incase anyone as tips for that camera)

I'd get a R72 but in my search for one I find it's quite a expensive filter! :cry
