We don't answer PMs here.. why?

I and all the contributors here get a zillion requests for help.

We won't answer them in private message. I've asked everyone to post new threads with the PMs, and answer the questions in the open forum.

WHY?

A question by ONE (you) can be answered by MANY (me, and all of the fine contributors on Dgrin). The answer by ONE can benefit MANY (you and the others that are new, or haven't yet asked the question, or maybe they find the thread by searching.

You do yourself a disservice, too - I'm not the only one that can answer - and I have been known to be incorrect ...once or twice

So, please - no private message questions :D

Hi Andy,

I'm heading to Belgium next week and I'm excited about capturing some images there of people and places. I shoot sports almost exclusively. I know you're really into street photography. Do you have any tips you can pass along or any resources you can point me to?

Your stuff is great, Andy. I can only say what's tripped me up, which is forgetting my camera settings, especially my depth of field. As you note, knowing your hyperfocal distances and being ready to adjust quickly is so important. I've screwed-up many, many street shots by not being properly mentally prepared. :cry

:nod most of the time, so I'm always ready, I'll be in AV mode, f/8, and an ISO that will allow me a shutter speed of not slower than 1/60th sec in the darkest scene I'll encounter. I'll still adjust accordingly, as time permits.
