I shot this fellow tonight, I think it is a male common golden eye but the coloration is wrong. It is a diving duck. Any guesses

Definately not a goldeneye. I would make a guess at it being a female long-tailed duck still mostly winter plummage. You might email a copy to your local audubon chapter and get an accurate ID.
