There's just no such thing as a free lunch -unless you're a spider...

Canon Xti + 100mm macro lens + 37mm of extension tubes + MR-14 ring flash set to a 4:1 ratio. Manual mode 1/200, F11, ISO 100.

When I first saw it I wondered why that fly was digging it's head into the flower. Only after looking through the lens did I realize that a crab spider had it in a head lock... :huh

Hi Dalantech, I saw one of those Crab spiders on the same kind of plant in Ohio and it was eating a Bee, I didn't see the spider at first, but I did notice the bee hanging in a weird position, that's the only thing that drew my attention to it.

He got a nice sized feed in that fly :thumb
Great Capture :clap ..... Skippy

I'm the same way! I've got no problems shooting a scene like that one, but as I walk away my skin starts to crawl... :puke1

Yes!! Or if it launches at you or jumps on you... I tend to freak out! I had a meesly grasshopper jump on me and I didn't expect it too and it wouldn't jump off me! I'm just glad it wasn't a spider.

LOL! I've had dragonflies land on me, and once a jumping spider leaped onto my lens...

Unless they are the variety my daughter showed me in Tiawan. They are about the size of a large man's hand and can jump 3-4 feet in the air.

They do change color but I've only seen yellow (most common), black, and brown (least common). After a little while they will take on the exact shade of the flower they are on...
