Hmmm... the pic is perfect and needs no comment .... or it got lost in the shuffle somewhere?

I am always looking for criticisms that help me improve. Don't worry about my feelings :deal

charles, the focus is not sharp. on birds, the eye should be in focus. examine harry's shots in the nature forum - he's really nailing those birds!

the rest of his head's a bit soft, too, charles. it's really hard, this shot of mine is juust at the limit of acceptability imo - taken with 70-200 f/2.8L, 1Ds Mark II.

edit: your shot would be a winner, two things: sharpness, and tone down the highlights imo (rocks, left). the expression on the bird is really good, i should add.

Charles interesting capture . I will ditto Andy on this.

A second word of advice that Andy neglected to mention was ...
were is the obligitory bird butt shot? Yours is hiding:D

On a serious note

When I have a busy area near one of my bird shots I turn AF off and go to M. Sometimes AF recompose gives me soft shots.

Tim re BBshot: You do know the difference between the feather and the whole chicken, right?

Re: sharpness... I should go back with some USM, but I should have mentioned that this was with an early Canon mount dSLR that only had 2MP.

Here with some USM
