I had this problem yesterday and it seemed to be fixed, but now is a problem again. But it may be a problem with computers at work. I've checked several and all are missing the background gradient.

Here is my site:

If you can see the gradient on homepage, I have a different problem. If not, I had a gradient background thoroughout my site (designed by Andy:D ) and now it is not there, again. The code seems to be correct, the gallery where the img is loated is not on "apperance: Smugmug" and the "hide owner" is no.

Here is location of background image.

Hi Mick,

It actually is showing your background image, but the top part of it is all black. Andy designed this on a fairly high-res screen, so he sees more of the picture than most of us do. The higher the resolution, the more gradient you see.

You can use a different gradient image maybe, one that changes color 'earlier'.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Okay, I could see it at home on my monitor, and perhaps other monitors can't handle it. I'll make a new gradient to handle lower res screens and see if that can work. I take it I can use the same code in CSS and simply replace the current image with a new one?

I'll work on it and let you know.

Thanks

That kinda worked. But image doe not go all the way to the end of the page. BTW, I do want the top of the page to be black since my banner in in black along with other tools. Can you take a look, please/

I tried a couple of things and now its just gray. Perhaps the code in CSS? Something that makes it stop befor it reaches the bottom of the page?:scratch

Problem found, I think. When I uploaded the new gradient, its size change from height 302 to 102. Not sure why except I'm doing this from another computer, not my home computer, so will try this later. Thanks for your help and I'll be in touch. Much appreciated.

Got it:rofl My new gradient was too small, read the wrong specs on Andy's original. Now all I have to do is play with gradient to match existing header and taste.

Thanks, Ivar, for the input and suggestion. I learned a lot by trying myself (ya think!?) . Good lesson. I get back if more problems on this issue - though I have others we'll get to.:wink

w00t :clap

Thanks, Andy. I apperciate the encouragement.

But here's one thing I notice. Because of some design issue on the new gradient, it is not a smooth repeat across the page. There are faint lines when ( I'm guessing, somewhat) one image of the gradient (width 20) ends and the new one starts. Make sense? Perhaps raster issue? Or gif vs jpeg? Current one is gif

Actually, it looks real smooth on my monitor at home, an NEC LCD, so I guess it can't be all things on all computers, eh? The limits of a free market.

Thanks agian, Andy. You folks are awesome :super
