Well, got no response to yesterday's hike (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=5515), so I thought I'd go out for another today. I had worse luck today than yesterday, I think. Feel like photography is slipping through my fingers. Ah well. Gotta keep plugging away.

Anyway, I did get these two panos. Both need PS work to repair the sky, but what do you all think?

#1 works for me better. More balanced. I also like that the top of that little hill there is nearer to the top of the shot.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll play with them some more.

I prefer number 2... I like that the path extends further into the shot, and I like the look of the sky better. There's also an area of what looks like dry bushes or trees on the left that is a nice contrast to all the green. Perhaps you could get it to stand out more by tweeking it some. Were these shot from the exact same spot? I dig the wide angle look...

Well, I have to say personally I like the first one I think that the contrast in the green grass down below and the green on the mountain make for a great photo. Further I think that the path with the turn so close draws people to look at the hill. I think that if it would have been possible to get a bit more sky that would have been nice but the first photo is my favorite. :clap :clap

Thanks to all who've given feedback!

Yes, these were taken at the exact same spot. One at 17mm, the other at 36mm (both on a 1.6x body, so the 35mm equivalents would be, 27mm and 57 and a half mm. Amazing what a difference it makes, eh?

I like the second one best. Now I want a 17 mm lens, too.......... I should walk, if not run........or something. My whole tax return is going to one camera and one lens. hope i have enough left over to get a uv filter.

funny how we all like different ones.

Thanks, ginger. It is funny how we all like diff ones. I'm going to keep working on both and see where I end up. I was just happy to have ended up with decent looking panos where the color was consistent across the image. Shot in RAW. This ended up causing problems on the bright end of the image, but I know that I can fix that in PS.

On the lens, when all I had was the Rebel kit lens, I never shot wide. Always used my 70-200 f4L because it's so much better. I'm learning all over again to shoot wide, and haven't hardly used the long lens since I got the wide one. Having fun with it.

OK I like things in both... i really like the longer path in the second pic, however, the sun seems to over power the mountains, unlike the first pic. The second pic make my head tilt unlike the first. I don't know if that makes sense... I new, forgive me. I like both. Am I starting to sound like Ginger?

peace.

Thanks. Yeah, both still need work, as they are several images stitched together, and I had to settle on an exposure when I processed the RAW image. I'm going to fix the sky and the right side of the image to reduce and/or eliminate the brightness difference.
