Madrid was clear for the eclipse. I shot these from my terrace. They have been cropped, contrast enhanced and sharpened but I did not change the colors at all.

Came out GREAT! :thumb :thumb
Least ya had the weather for it......clouds were rolling threw here like a million miles an hour across the sky.
Moon only peeked threw now and then.
The amount of time it takes for the shutter to slap I'd have gotten squat.
I made out making my own! :D

Richard,
Which lens did you use ?
I shot this one (http://antoniocorreia.smugmug.com/photos/133397965-M.jpg) at 23 h 07 m with the 70-200 IS L USM - 200*1,6*1,4 = 448 mm
Your photos are very nice. :D :thumb

Thanks, Graphy. I saw your method and it's pretty cool...plus you don't have to worry about the weather or time of day. :D

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Nik. I appreciate it.
Toni: Thanks for your comments. I used a 70-200 f/4L with a Canon 1.4x TC-II. Your shot looks good. We tend to get the same weather (you get it first) so I imagine you had good opportunities as well.

I like your B&W shot #1 with the clear shadow of the eclipse.

A great series Richard, we had cloud cover for the start but I did manage to see the end - didn't get pics though.
As a matter of interest, what ISO and shutter speed did you use on the pics (esp. the full eclipse)?

Thanks Al.
#1 ISO 100 f/10 1/125 sec
#2 ISO 800 f/5.6 1.3 sec
#3 ISO 800 f/5.6 1.6 sec
#4 ISO 400 f/5.6 1 sec
As usual, there were tradeoffs. I couldn't go wider than f/5.6 without dropping from 280mm to 200mm. The shutter speeds were really too long for moon shots (it appears to move faster than you might imagine), but I was also concerned about noise.

We had a beautiful, clear evening but I didn't have time to take more than a few shots. This is taken using a friend's Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT with another friend's Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM lens, an older one without the new optical coatings to reduce internal reflections when used with digital bodies. That probably helps explain the ghost image of the blown bright side of the moon. 2 sec. at f/5.6, 200mm, ISO 400. I think I took this one but it may have been my friend as we were both using her camera. My poor little Canon PowerShot A430 couldn't even tell there was a moon out, let alone take a photo of it. Technically, this isn't a perfect image, but I like it anyway.
