Not sure if i'm in the right thread, but...
I set this up a few months ago for the cover of our new base guide. just FYI the wingspan on the B-52 is a little more than 180'. There are 72 people up there.

:clap I don't really see any evidence of the SB 800's. Were they evening spaced? I did notice that what should have been the shadow side is illuminated. I'm only asking because I should have a similar shoot coming up soon with an F-18 squadron. Right now I plan to have them facing the sun so as to help alleviate the need for flash. Good job by the way. Are you in the air force? BS:barb

I am in the AF (public affairs aka photojournalism)
i shot this at about 9 am with the jet facing east. the jet is so big i think i was standing about 50' away from the nose:dunno
additionally, the weather was perfect. there was barely a cloud in the sky that morning.
i love shooting natural light so if you can organize the squadron in the morning/evening do so.
With an F-18 i suggest settting it up at an angle (facing to the left) with the cannopy open. maybe put the Squadron/CC in the seat then you can either set up the rest of the squadron on the wings (informally) or on the ground (formally) depending on the number of people/ what they want to do. but thats just what I envision. you can take it for what its worth.:D
also, i used what the AF calls a B-1 stand for some other shots. you may want to talk to their Maintenance squadron to get ahold of one of those.
also, dont forget to hook up with that bases Public Affiairs shop before the shoot.

Amazing shot! Great perspective. Makes a person feel rather small and glad our military is there to protect us.
Thanks for sharing!

:clap Love it! That's a memorable shot. The two people poking out of the cockpit windows made me smile. Nice!
