I am torn on wether or not I need a watermark for my photographs on my website. I do pageant photography and portrait work... I will most likely have other shots up as well at some point. Landscapes... Nature... Etc... But now I do pageantry and portraiture...

I have come to the conclusion that a watermark of some kind is benificial, as I do beleive I have had photographs stolen out from under me in the past (pageant-girl parents are cheep).

So, with the conclusion that I need (or would atleast feel better about having) a watermark, how do I go about making one that marks the images as mine, but doesn't kill them?

<strike>I have my latest try up right now, I like it, but it is rather big, and obnoxious, and from what others have said, hard to read... So scrap that idea... I was thinking of haveing a thing at the bottom right, but that would be too easy to crop out... I am torn...</strike>

I've got my bottom right idea up right now... I like it, but still feel it is easy to be cropped out...

Wow, I thought you couldn't get more intrusive than test 1. :lol3 Pretty much all I can see is watermark. But then again, I'm not a big fan of uber intrusive watermarks so maybe I'm not the best to comment.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that... :-/

The second one isn't any better?

The second one isn't any better?Um, no. I take it you REALLY don't want people to nab your shots.

I dont think you need to have such visible watermarks. A simple highly transparent watermark smack in the middle will deter almost anyone.

I don't know... I am hesitant to fade the WM to far back, as I do feel I have had clients steal from me in the past (not really something I can prove), but having since changed hosts and utilizing watermarks this season, I have already, in a month, sold more photographs than I did over the whole of last year... on one event... So I attribute some of that to watermarks... I don't want too subtle of one, and because of that, I am trying at least to make it somewhat appealing...

I don't know, any pointers?
