View Full Version : William burnt his ships
I always thought that pretty cool...its how i think. So this afternoon i get to the travel agent & finalise the flight to SF. I have my trusty littl' green lunch bag with me as no only do i keep my camera in it...but my wallet etc.
Sooo....i get out of there (hottern hades) & walk back to the bike & sit the littl' green lunch box on the seat. Thats all she wrote...off it went & now my little olympus is no more.
I have broken the selection dial on the top (ie Prog..ap...shutter selector) I will have to see whom can fix it...dont like my chances as i couldnt even buy 2 small screws for the tripod mount on it when they fell out so this could be it for the camera.
Im riding home ...really really cranky :humungus :humungus :humungus :humungus :humungus :humungus & think...chill mate...last thing you want is a speeding fine.
Pull into the driveway & go to open my garage & some parasitic gut coelenterate has put a set of bolt cutters onto my lock. I cant work it out...they walked staright past 2 tool boxes that have $1000 in hammer & cordless drills along sitting there. They have had a good rattle about looking here there & everywhere & decided on my helmet collection.
What a sick retard...taken was 5 old helmets dating back to my 1st road helmet in '82. They were ready for the bin in the mid 80's I just had never thrown them out. You would have to be an idiot...they walked straight past 3 good jackets ???:huh
Now i have a severe tropical storm closing...no camera to shoot it & a garage im going to have to sleep in tonight on the rare chance they will return now that the BM is there. Could i be so lucky ? I will have to use the kodak if i get them.
Sure i will buy a new camera when i get to the US but that little olympus was a top number !
At least they didnt steal the Katana.
Then depession set in......

What a crappy day!
Any chance of an insurance claim for the camera and helmets??

Any chance of an insurance claim for the camera and helmets??Thats an idea re : the camera. I will look into that. I remember when i went to look for the small screws & all the shops just said "sorry mate...no-one fixes anything anymore"
The helmets...mate they were the ugliest old bits of crap you have ever had the misfortune to lay your eyes on. They smelt like a rats den & the foam was ALL rotted out.
They were 100% without ANY value what-so-ever.
Strange behavior mate ..i'll give you the drum. They walked past (broard daylight) all my trade tools..drills...socket sets etc etc etc...expensive climbing harnesses...3 very good bike jackets.
They took absolute rubbish :huh
I think they saw the big lock & knew i had bikes & it was pros looking for a harley (big big theft item here)...but even they dont take useless helmets.

Sorry to hear bout the bad day gus. I don't know if this will be any help but if ya can't get the right part locally might be able to find a busted camera on ebay with the right part ya need. I haven't tried this with camera's but I do it all the time with laptops.

I do indeed pity the fools who robbed you. Could it have been kids? Doesn't sound like they knew value when it was right in front of them. I can't imagine they will be riding around wearing your helmet, but you never know, do you.

Scumbags!
Ahh..its no biggy. Thanks everyone. Never been broken into before so it is maybe my turn. Cops were great but could do nothing as there was nothing. If i see one of my lids on someone in traffic it will make international news thats for sure.
Too be said in a broard yank/pom accent...
"And just breaking ...in Orstraya today a man was attacked by what could only be described as a drug crazed 'Yowie' whilst at a set of traffic lights. The young man was roped to the rear of a big black BMW motorcycle & dragged until his skin was removed to a local salt works factory some 8 miles away... where he was thrown in to a stockpile of salt. A member of the computer gaming design team associated with the release Doom 4 followed the action"
"We were so lucky to be there to witness the event..we only managed to grab some sound recordings to use in out next game but have no memory of the scenes as it was well & truly beyond an level of violence we will put into a computer game & all the crew is having wierd memory repressions as it was too horrific to remember"
And as any bike rider will tell you
We recognise our helmets at 100 yards as well as we recognise our own kids.
Our offices were bugularized 3 times and they took our computers (Macs were very valuable and desirable). They finally caught the ring of thieves, and we actually got some zip disks back. I was on the news, but didn't see it since we get San Francisco News, and where I work they get San Jose News.
The first time it was devastating, so many emotions from anger, fear and depression. After the second bugulary I was a lot calmer about the entire thing. I had external drives which we hid at night and I knew insurance would take care of it. The data was much more important to us than the machines.
Oh, by the way I do know someone in Brisbane who loves to fix things, he might be able to help with your tripod and camera, pm me if you are interested.
