At least I think it qualifies as a BIF. My wife and went to the store early this morning to get some chips; it was Daytona race day, and when we got home this beautiful RTH came over the neighbors house and circle right over us. I told my wife that it probably wouldn’t hang around long enough for me to get in the house and get the camera. I thought I was right because I couldn’t see the hawk when I got back outside with my new 70-300VR lens on my D50. I walked around the corner and I spotted it again. It was some distance away and being chased by a d@mn Crow or Raven. I had time for one quick shot and then they dove out of sight.
This is a straight conversion to JPEG from NEF using the feebie Nikon Editor

This is a crop, with my feeble attempt to remove some of the CA in PSE-4. Every time I got rid of the fringe I also managed to get rid of the blue sky. This was my best effort.

Sure wish it would have stuck around a little longer. When he (she?) flew over us the distance was probably only about thirty feet, not much higher than this d@mn noisy character sitting across the street. I think it was his (her?) pal that chased off my RTH. This one sure was making a racket, sounded just like it was mocking me; probably telling the other one, "go get him Rocky, you got him on the run."
Straight conversion, no crop, no PP, some mornings I'd like to shoot these with a shotgun rather than a camera, like when there are a dozen of the noisy critters at dawn
