Ok, i suck, i need a new lens that can reach those high flying creatures... I tried just for the heck of it to see what comes up. As you see, too far away is not good for my lens. Time to go shopping LOL.
Here is what came out....

Well shot! The VR on that lens (I've got the same one) really helps with handheld. I especially like the backlighting and good exposure on number 2. I'm wondering for myself how much a convertor would help to really reach out and touch without breaking the bank. Again, good job.

Considering my recent attempts as a beginner grinner, I'd say you did well!

These are really good for your first attempt at birds. My first egrets looked like white blobs. Good work on the exposure.

I love the feet on the guy on the pipe! Nice that you get the capture, now work on the technique.
I suggest you read Harry's tutorial on this. It really helped me to improve.

Look at the stickey up top entitled "Tips and Resources"
Read, experiment, learn. You'll improve quickly. If you can get your bird shots as good as your dog shots, you'll soon be one of Dgrins experts!

Not too shabby for your first try. You live in Florida and you have a camera so its almost mandatory that you have to shoot birds.:D Check out the stickies on lenses and resources on top of this forum.

Wow, thank you everyone. I'm puzzled, i think i'm becoming too picky about quality of my pictures. I'm comparing myself to those amazing shots i see here daily. My dogs are close enough to me to make a good shot LOL. Birds, well, they are not trained to "come" and "sit", ya know? :roflI appreciate your comments, i actually feel better now, that you see some potentials in me. :thumb Thank you for pointing out the link, i shall go and learn.
Thanks again, everyone! :bow

Way to go! You got a vulture BIF. :D Those are some nice shots for your first attempt. I am still learning as well. The excellent shots around here only motivate me more because I am certainly no where near certain photographers' quality around here but it's okay, everyone is very humble here and willing to give lots of good advice. Hope to see more wildlife from you.

Stop it! It is my first bird shot, i had to put some photoshop into work here. Vults actually came out really dark, so, some touch up was needed. I want them coming out nice straight out of the camera, and that's what my goal is. I'm sure your birds are whole lot more beautiful then mine. :):
