Hi there,

just got another bunch of comments and got some additional ideas concerning this theme.
I've turned on the comment notifying option, but was never satisfied with it, because it has just the link inside.
I would like to see the following format:

Subject:Filename+part of caption for the picture
Body:

full caption
newest comment first and then all the others following (up to a certain limit if somebody has 1000s of comments or so)
links to all sizes (I hate to mess with my statistics and always view the small size when answearing on my own pics)
This format would make the comment notifying-mails really usefull for me and perhaps also others, because you can read the comments straight in the mail and don't have view the picture page in order get to know what and about which picture someone wrote a comment.

I already posted these ideas in another thread, but there they were somehow lost. :dunno (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=3817)

So what do you think about it? Does anybody even use the comment-notification?!

Thanks for your input,
Sebastian

Just wanted to say that I also would like to see more information in the upload notification mails. At the moment there only use is to count them and look if the number matches the uploaded pictures.
(I did this since joining smugmug :huh and now it's time for a change :D )
I would like to see:

filename
imageID
galleryID (I know it's already in, but don't drop it)
caption (imported from iptc)
keywords (imported from iptc/filename)
Can't think of more at the moment, but maybe you can. :scratch

Already tried it with a hidden bump through adding new suggestions, but now it's time for a real bump.
Had the suggestion already in another thread, but seems like this is a real downer :flush or killer suggestion. :hang

Ok, many of you read it and perhaps thought: "Hey, what's the guy talking about? :gun2 him! Why doesn't he stop posting this...it makes me :sick ! Maybe he's just a little :crazy ?! Time to press the :noob -key!"

If this is so, then just say it out loundly and proudly :doh !

That's it for today. I've to get back to my studies :deal , so I can finish them in time to get some sleep :snore . Hope you had some fun reading it.:beer

The comment feature I wish it had was an update to people who posted comments on my gallery that there has been a reply.

I dont' get that many comments on my galleries :cry so this isn't a real issue for me. I suppose it could be helpful if I were to get lots of comments. I recommend you keep trying. You know what they say about the squeaky wheel.

:thumbThat's one of the points why I made the earlier suggestions in this thread: http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=44429

It should be easier for people to leave a comment and this would be an important factor in the amount of comments you receive. Now they've to push a button and wait for the new page. I suggested that people can instantly jot down their thoughts.

We have an upgrade for the Comments system on the list, and lots of these suggestions are there for consideration. Now, where exactly on the list is it? I can't say :) but we would like them upgraded as much as you!

Now I can lean back and let the magic work. :D

I dunno how this thread got past me so many times. JT's right, it's on the list of things we're talking about. It turns out it's not as easy a change to make as some other things we do because of the way comments are currently stored in our database, and that's one reason we haven't moved on it before now.
