I have a somewhat interesting question. Is there html code to embed a smugmug slideshow outside of smugmug, and into a separate website?

Stick around a bit... we may have something really neat for you in the not too distant future :evil

Thanks Andy! I'm definitely looking forward to it. Quick question then, will there be more transitions than fade in the works?

I don't have anything to say - we don't really comment on what we are working on :D

Hang in there, mkay?

I host my homepage elsewhere, so add another vote for this feature. I'd love to put up portfolio slideshows based on keyword searches.

I am fairly certain you can do it now with a lot of work. In principle it looks like BigWebGuy's slideshow hack (see http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=28348) could be ported to another site. However, that is no lightweight task. You might also be able to use someone else's slideshow code and fill in the URL's to the images with AJAX-like techniques.

The obvious way would be to wrap sspopup.mg with a frame. However, the code from that CGI breaks frames so you will be sadly disspointed if you try. The stated reason in the code is for cookies, but I don't think the slideshow really needs a cookie. It might be that a simple back end tweak would make putting slideshows where you want them straightforward.

Anyhow, given Andy's heads up, I am going to wait a bit and see what turns up rather than sinking a lot of programming time into the project.

Over my xmas break I put a little bit of work in playing around with flash-based slideshows, targeted towards people with external websites.

Example (http://hacks.introversion.com.au/SmugSSP/demo.html)

Get more information here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=50128).

That looks very nice David! I look forward to trying it out and letting you know how it works. Is this just a temporary solution, was Andy referring to something else?
