My wife's school is putting on a production of the Wizard of Oz, and I have to say, I was completely blown away by it. I got my camera in for the second act, and took several shots there. It's playing tonight, Wednesday, and Thursday night this week, so if you're in the LA area, look up Milken and Wizard of Oz to get tickets if you're interested.

Bring me the Wicked Witch's broomstick!

The Wicked Witch herself. I sat next to two small kids (about 2 and 3 years old) who were terrified of her-- she did an excellent job.

The Jitterbug (which is still stuck in my head):

Very nice pics.

Can you post your camera and lens used?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

The camera was a D70 in aperture priority and using auto-iso with a cap of 1/125th of a second. The lens was an 85mm 1.8, and the aperture I used varied between 2.0 and 4.0, but mainly below 2.8. Shot in raw.

I went with auto iso because the light conditions would vary dramatically from one scene to the next, and the action was happening too fast for me to want to worry about that. As a consequence, some are at low iso's (320 or so), and some are at 1600. Remarkably, the 1600 shots aren't so noisy, even at 100%. Some, like the scream shot I posted earlier, were at 1/30th of a second, but those I just had to ditch. I'd say that with this arrangement, I got maybe 20-30% keepers based on sharpness and focus alone. I'm looking at the fuji s5 with baited breath, hoping that it could improve that keeper rate in conditions like these.
