i'm having it at the moment... i dk what to shoot and when i try to shoot something it comes out like crap. i'm out of practice and need to get in the groove. so my assignment is this. i want you guys to give me ideas to shoot. and then i'll go shoot them and post them in here. others can follow suit with their interpretation of the idea. to kinda help the ppl like me who just can't think of what to shoot and when we try it we miserably fail :deal
have at it Dgrinners, tell me what to shoot!

I get these slumps too!
Let's see, it's winter -- how 'bout some tree branches?
Find some with some interesting shapes
Shadows -- get some shadows of yourself -- against a building, on the sidewalk...
Photograph your hand!
Set up some object -- set your camera on a tripod, get a flashlight, and use a long exposure to experiment with "painting with light."
Go to the grocery store and buy some fresh flowers -- paint with light, make a shadow of them, etc.
Post the results! Oh, and do Nik's "classes" there's plenty in there to keep you busy too.
Oh, here's another one. Get one egg -- try to think of different ways to photograph one white egg against a white sheet of paper. You can use aids to create shadows, colored gels or lights, etc. I'll look up the gallery if it's still there after you post a few eggs to show what others have done.
And post the results here so we can see! :D

Or, if you're not ready for Challenges there are also "Assignments" in the technique forum.
See This Thread (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=41800).
They're weekly assignments, but you can hop in at anytime and do old ones too. :)

Just go for a walk. Set a certain area that you're allowed to cover and force yourself to find images within that boundary. This was a technique employed by the late Michael Richard (http://www.rangefindermag.com/magazine/Jan07/showpage.taf?page=70).

Have the camera with you at all times. Having the camera with you makes you look with other eyes, there is always something around you worth shooting, even in daily life!
The first need for a good photograph is HAVING THE CAMERA!!!

Don't feel bad Dan....I get it from him often! :rolleyes
As for the block.....I get it every Winter.....you have a light tent?
Get some interesting glass or something small around the house and shoot some shots in the tent.
Not a cure but it helps! :dunno
My latest shot of a antique item I put on ebay....didn't bring squat but it was something to do.
(RED arrow shows that there is a Hayward brand name marked inside)
