These are some pics i took in Africa not to long ago. I have tried to crop some of the dead space out. The children are beautiful and the animals are ok too.

This little girl was in the "poor" hospital. She suffered with TB and fever.

This baby girls mother and father wanted to give her to the local church to be raised by the ministers.

Group of kids gatherd as 5 white guys drove into town looking for a student who had received support from missionaries. We were told it would be like Bill Gates driving into your small town and asking the town for you by name.

Same village... I love this shot, however, I would like the background to be less... Any ideas?

Amazing! Beautiful children for sure - on the third shot, to reduce the background, my first step would be to crop nice and tight to the child. Then try selecting her and either blurring the background or desaturating it.

Lovely lion and elephants!

Thanks for sharing these.

H, I am using the Fuji Fine Pix S5000 digital... It's just a little mans camera compared to most of the gear used here... I bought it for my trip to Africa because it had a 10x optical zoom (approx. 37mm-370mm), it really helped. Although I didn't need to zoom in on the lion, he was very, very close. I love the features it offers: manual control over apature, speed (2sec. - 1/1000), etc. If I show my wife I'm serious about learning and can improve, I might be able to upgrade. :D
peace.

Thanks N! :D My computer is an old ibook laptop, so the quality of color is tough to see on my screen. I guess that is why I have trouble using PS. I don't want to make the color worse. Anyway, did you notice the elephant? He's the one in the "Tree" pic. You inspired me to find an elephant, which inspired me to post these pics. :thumb

Have a great day.

Beautiful pics, Johno.....am in a big hurry, have to leave in a min.

Just saw these. Absolutely gorgeous people shots. Will look at elephant later. Aside from the natural beauty of the people, the colors are out of this world!

Thanks Ginger... I hope you like the elephant. It was great coming across this herd. I took over 80 shots... It was tough due to the lighting. It was about 3:00 pm hard African sunshine. At one point the MAMA told us to "BACK UP" we did. It's hard to take a picture of a charging elephant. :D

peace.
