Mebbe I'm just dumb, but I guess I'm missing the whole reason behind proofs.

If you upload your photos to your account, you can buy prints of them. Why have proofing, or proofing delays?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm relatively new to the photo business. I'm trying to learn as much as I can, but have been mainly focusing my thoughts on producing better quality photos, rather than many aspects of the business that I probably should learn a little more about.

Say you shoot an event - 1000 photos of runners at a race. You can upload unprocessed jpgs, for sale in the gallery. You might only sell x% of the photos, so why photoshop them all perfectly? Upon order, you can photoshop the ones that sell

That's the proof delay feature :)
