Now this really made me laugh. Too bad that there is no such thing as a free lunch. :D
It looks just a bit too dark on my screen, but that may be my screen. Overall, I like the mood of the picture: the lighting, the colors and the way the trap fades into the darkness at the top. If it were my picture, I would clone out the light specs on the wood. They are distracting without adding anything.
I like it!

Yeah..:-)
Actually, I got that idea the moment I saw the new challenge topic:-)
It looks just a bit too dark on my screen, but that may be my screen.
Well, partially it was my intention: I wanted the "glowing" piece of cheese and the whole gruesome trap fading into the sadows...

I guess it's hard to guess the original shot was taken in the broad daylight:-) :wink :D
I'm glad you confirmed my intentions: I wanted the trap to look rather ominous, akin to some medieval torture device...

Nikko:
This is a very good shot and so perfectly themed to the challenge. My only nit-pick would be that your focus is a bit soft on the cheese and seems to be on the spring of the mouse trap.
Stylistically that's not a problem but since this is for a challenge specific to the theme of "cheese" I think it should be sharp as a tack.

Your eye is dead on, as always:-) :deal
I knew that but hoped that it would pass a QC :-) :dunno
Maybe I'll reshoot, there are still a few days left. :rolleyes
And if not - let's not tell anybody else...;-) :wink
Thanks a lot, my friend! :thumb

Very well done Nik. Great idea. Could a little pink nose and a whisker or two be added to the extreme right, just sneaking into the shot?

I thought of that too:-) :thumb :wink :rofl
Unfortunately, the model refused to sign a release form so I had to toss that one:-)

:agree I love the glow and the red in the first one. I love your banter too. Too bad there isn't a prize for the worst jokes on a prospective entry thread. :lol3

I also prefer the composition of the first one but agree that the cheese should be sharper. Maybe reshoot that one?

Exactly my point! :deal
In Russia we had a saying "Free cheese can only be found in the mousetraps".
This is a rather direct illustration of that saying:-)

Nik, I love, love, love the mood of your lighting. Reminds me of Rembrandt paintings.
