Using categories and sub-categories to organize by school-year

I do a lot of school-related photography. I started using smugmug about a year ago, and soon I am going to have to rework how I've categorized my school event photos, which repeat year after year. I'm looking for some examples or suggestions for category and sub-category names and schemes.

It comes down to personal preference I think, but I would do something like this:

Category > Sub-Category > Gallery

Schoolname > 2000-2001 > Event A
Schoolname > 2000-2001 > Event B
Schoolname > 2001-2002 > Event C
Schoolname > 2001-2002 > Event D
