Hi there
I am a new Smugmug member, after checking out several other photo storing services I decided on Smugmug because its just so cool and simple to use. I'd like to order some prints from Smugmug in the future (currently using Kodak online) but I have one simple question:
I have edited a lot of my pictures in Adobe Photoshop Elements 5; tweaked 'em for better color, lighting and contrast reproduction. Will the 'True color' enhancing make a mess of those pictures I order through Smugmug? I have read in some sites that once you enhance your pics you should disable any other "tweaking" option when ordering prints online....
please enlighten me!
thanks :D

Hi and Welcome!
I'm your House Pro and I'll help.
True Color means we do NOTHING to your file at the lab. What you give us gets printed.
Our Auto Color is quite amazing, it will nearly always improve your photos, and very, very rarely harm them. Much more, here: http://smugmug.jot.com/WikiHome/PrintingAutoOrTrueColor
Have a read, and then fire me any questions.

Andy, are there any types of photos which Auto Color is known to likely mess up? For example, when I print photos of my baby, most labs totally mess them up. That's probably because there are almost no black or dark colors, and their automatic correction algorithms try to stretch the histogram to fill the complete range, so the result is way too contrast with awful colors. I now print at a local lab where they can turn the auto corrections off for me. Do you think Auto Color can work in this case, or should I just turn it off here too?
Thanks!

Those are well exposed already, and the color is well done, too :thumb
i2e will enhance the "pop" just a bit, and make them more pleasing.

Autocolor does rock, although it does confuse me :D Ive got an image that looks fine on my spyder calibrated screen, looks fine on my epson 2400 printer, but doesnt look that nice when printed using true color on smugmug. Granted, I didnt download the icc profiles. It printed fine with auto color. Guess i'll be using auto color permanently.
