I've been hanging out a bunch in the customization area of the forum for a few days - getting helped and trying to be of help - so I've visited a lot of other users' smugmug pages.

Why do so many people include ads on their page? Everything from small google-ish ads to full-blown banner ads.

I understand if you're advertising yourself - heck, that's really the point of a website (generally). And if you have a particular retailer that you get equipment from, fine, maybe you have a separate page with some info and links to them.

But ads? Ick. I just figured people's galleries would be one place where I wouldn't have to see them.

Am I way out of line here?

That's one of the reasons I love the smug....no ads. :D

Ads? Really?

I've never seen an ad on a Smugmug page.

Am I way out of line here?Everyone's got different opinions. Apparently some smugmug users feel validated or more pro by having ads on their site. It's theirs to do with as they please. :dunno

I've never seen an ad on a Smugmug page.

They're there. Not on too many of them - but even a few is more than I would expect.
