is there an easy way to sharpen up this photo (besides using the sharpen function, which doesnt do much as far as i can tell) and get rid of the white glare?

i played around and was unable to clean it up - still learning.

thoughts/tips/tutorial links appreciated

Filter > sharpen > smart sharpen...the just set your own level. Having no idea of the photo you are talking about but at a guess ..sharpening more will do nothing for glare except maybe make it worse.

I will have a try with the shot now.

A 25 second play with the shot.

I increased the off-set & the gamma a bit in exposure & added some contrast & sharpening. You can adjust stuff lots but when the photo lacks the digital information to begin with you are really never going to improve it that much.

Its not technically great shot. I mean that in a photographic way..please dont take the comment as running the shot down. But it has blurred movement & other issues & trying to resolve them is never going to fully work. You can adjust stuff but if the information isnt there in the digital file to begin with ..its just hard to add/adjust it without having effects on other aspecs of the photo.

Hope i explained that ok.

I also just did a very quick 'clone stamp' around the white misty bits near his foot & eye.

Fast looking dog !!
