Thanks guys. I've always been around redwood trees, as a second generation Californian. When my bro-in-law came out from Georgia for the first time years ago, he was mesmorized by them. There aren't many big trees in the south.

This particular tree isn't terribly large, as redwoods go. About 6' in circumference and maybe 75' tall. It's one of the trees in our small backyard grove. (hey humungus...does that count as "outside"? :rofl)

As far as texture...yeah, it's cool, huh? You can buy mulch here called "gorilla hair" and it's made from shredded redwood bark.
