Hey guys,

I received my order today, which included several 8.5x11" custom magazine covers that I do, to find noticable cropping at the top and bottom of each cover I ordered. I didn't specifically notice any cropping on the left or right edges, but, I'm a little perplexed and disgruntled by this. The images were custom designed by me at exactly 8.5x11", and ordered via "Other sized prints" at again, exactly 8.5x11". I paid no attention to the crop/no crop selection during the ordering process, since there was no bounding box on the thumbnail, and I was ordering EXACT size. ?!?! Is EZ-Prints unable to produce a true borderless 8.5x11? How do I need to format my files to ensure this doesn't happen again? I really can't in good conscious send these to my customers and I'm already behind schedule. :cry

Notice the cropping of the magazine title and the Next Month's Issue text chopped. Every magazine in the order appears this same way, for a total of four. What did I do wrong?

It's bleed trim, Steve.

How much? If the mechanical trimmer were perfectly accurate and consistent (it isn't) adding 38 pixels to the total width of your image would work. EZprints recommends you allow .25 inches (75 pixels) on an 8x10 print to fully allow for worst cases.

BTW, I noticed in that same order that you cropped a couple 8x10s really tight, don't forget, your customers will put these in a frame. And there needs to be breathing room between the frame and the subject's head :)

Thanks as always, Andy. Always helps to RTFM, eh! (F = flippin', this is a family forum!) And yeah, thanks for the advice on the cropping. Not as much cropping, but shot way too tight. I had a real hard time with the native 2:3 accomodating full body 8x10s on some of em, cuz I flat out shot too tight. It was a crazy day, and I'm in for another on Sunday (not complaining!).

I'll rework the files and have them back up in an hour or so and post back to the thread. Should I make a new gallery, or just replace the ordered files?

Okay, edited and replaced the original photos at their current location. I added .25" to height and .25" to width of the canvas and background. Let me know if anything is inadequate.

Hey Andy,

Any update on this? Status, shipping method, or tracking #? Shoot me a PM so I know if I need to abandon all my responsibilities and take an entire day off from everything lying around watching reruns of M*A*S*H to make sure I don't miss the package (I hope! Man I'll be glad when finals are over). :D

Thanks again, Andy. The new prints arrived today (Tuesday) and are perfect; all but identical to my original intention. I'll definitely be adding .25" to my working .PSD from now on, and take that into consideration when cropping.
