Though technically not perfect (noise in a few), these were the better shots I got from the Shekell Wildfire in Ventura County yesterday and last night. The wind was so strong it nearly blew me off my feet and I weigh 240lbs - Amazing!!!

Hey thdizzy - good stuff. I tend to rate my stuff (and others) by a bar of "publishable" (yea or nay).
#2 is certainly publishable, (although it seems a bit soft on the people), for a newspaper or magazine, especially if you have L-Rs on the folks and if they are viewing their property! Once again good job and I hope you, your family, neighbors and their homes are safe. (I heard five home went up already).

I agree Gary...#2 had potential but isn't quite there. As usual I had my thrill seeking kids in tow and was fousing more on them and not on the shot.
Thanks for the feedback.

Numbers 1, 4 and 5 are those I like best.
I like the power on number 1
The couple (number 4) translates how little power Humans have towards forces of Nature.
The air of the woman flying is good.
And the colours on number 5.

Cool shots. Obviously, I hope your home is okay-- the Santa Ana's sound FIERCE this year! I worked on a hotshot crew in southern Cali years ago but we were all wrapped up by December since the fire danger that season was over. Looks like that's not the case this year.
P.S. this photo is not in California, it's from a prescribed burn at local wildlife refuge in September.

Thanks...:-) It was an impulse decision. I was crossing the tracks when I saw it. I stopped at the T-intersection 10 meters away, turned on emergency lights and went to take a shot.
Unfortunately I don't know the Moorpark area well enough, so I could not figure out where the fire is and how to get there in time... :dunno
Soon the sun set down and I went home with a quick stop on my "sunset" hill to take a few skyline shots...
Cheers!
