This is the setting for my day-after-Christmas actually, my mother-in-law's house. I would appreciate critiques, thanks!

I just saw this and am not sure how I missed it. I do not have any improvements to suggest and I think it deserves a bump to the top.

It's a nice shot with a very warm holiday feel. It would make a nice greeting card. Nicely done.

I have to agree with Greaper not sure how I missed this.
Very nice shot I can feel the warmth of the fire.
It will make a great Christmas card.
Only one thing I would do is use the ps perspective tool on it just a little.

Thanks
Fred

With a littel perspective correction, it will make a perfect Christmas Card. Looks very warm and homey. :1drink

Well, I'm not great at perspective correction, but I took a stab at it. Is this better?

Yes it is better, but it still has a little barrel distortion - see how the horizontal wood on the wall curves downward to the left. It may be difficult to correct that and keep the fireplace rectilinear. Not sure.

Don't you just hate us nit pickers? :D

Don't you just hate us nit pickers? :DNope, I'm one of 'em! I had to put guides on the fireplace top and sides because they didn't look right to me, even though they turned out to be. And the top rows on the wall bug me quite a bit. I actually like the original better than this one.

I agree that it could use a tiny perspective correction. I also noticed that the hearth rug was askew and off to the right. Wish you had moved it, but then it does look kind of natural there. That's how mine usually looks.:D The mood of the picture is so relaxed and warm and inviting. Good job!
