Was curious if anyone here knew what kind of bird these feathers belonged to? When my son and I were out hiking this past weekend we came across the remains of a dead bird and these were the feathers. Curious as to what bird. Thanks.

Was the bird too decomposed to gather other details like the bird's size or what the beak looked like? What kind of habitat were you hiking in?

all that was left was a large clump of down type feathers. light grey in color. and a bunch of these feathers. the whole mass of feathers was about 2 feet in diameter. Didn't see any bones or beak. I was along side of a brook about 3 miles into deep woods. mostly tall evergreens and moss covered rocks.

Sorry it's taken me a couple of days to reply...
How long are those feathers? The long one almost look like it's from a pheasant's tail...
