Romeo Pier, Pillar Point Harbor. The thing to notice are all the white caps... this is a protected harbor. I read that they are rebuilding this pier, now's your chance to photograph it. At Pillar Point Harbor, just west of the restrooms, some boats and storm clouds.

And an ever inquisitive immature gull, notice how tightly the feet are clasping at the edge, he was getting blown around quite a bit, but I liked this pose the best.

I love those storms for a photograph. I am really getting in tune with the weather since I started doing all this landscape stuff. Storm in SC are a spring and summer thing. Now it has been grey and warmer, or clear and very cold.

Clear and very cold is the good photography.

I took birds at my daughter's bird feeder today. But I can't do anything with them without my own computer. I don't travel enough to have the facilities. I will show them to you, as I am very excited.

And not about the birds. I am excited because I learned how to use the feature of the Rebel where you only use one spot to focus. It isn't soft anymore. I know that is basic, but I had never used it. Until today.

I think I got a woodpecker, that was before my educational leap, so it is probably soft. But lots of cardinals....... we don't have a bird feeder at home. My daughter has three very active ones. I finally took my camera out and sat with the birds. Spent the rest of the day warming up. I still have my coat on.

I stopped at Pigeon Point and at Gazos Creek today. Had intermittent
sunshine at PP.

It was a blustery day on the coast. My favorite! And the weather's supposed to continue for the next week. I stopped at Pigeon Point and at Gazos Creek today. Had intermittent sunshine at PP.

Oh what wonderful lighting. I kept looking at the contrast between the cool gray clouds and the warm hills and the bright green grass ... but nothing that would have made a killer photo. But I sure enjoyed looking at it. :-)

Those clouds were moving so fast if I blinked I had an entirely new sky.

:D I still have my coat on! That wind was really blowing and I needed windproof stuff to make even approaching bareable. I didn't have any. We wondered when we saw a patrol car off to the side who had stopped to help some people and the officer had on yellow slicker pants. When I stood outside the car to take a photo, I understood immediately.

My 828 has a "spot" focus that's selectable. I don't use it that often, but it comes in handy when I do.

I'm sure you will find it a great help in photographing birds.

Ours are just 10 mins of screaming terror & then the sun comes back out.

Here is another closing in about 3pm...i really wish i had a lens to look into that cloud edge. Imagine what we could see in there ?

Thanks! I think Pigeon Point was the defining line with regard to wet. While it
wasn't raining, it was threatening from the South. North, it was really blowing.

If you look at the sand, you'll see there's a moving layer of it just above the
surface. Glad I had the camera in a rain cover :D

I have an e-friend in Brisbane! :-) They are visiting Sydney right now.

Usually the clouds are so blown around at the coast they don't build up like those in your photos, but going to the east bay sometimes they stack up like your photos.

I was actually watching the sand blow around this little point when I was photographing Romeo Pier. So, I'm not surprised you caught that in your photo. One day at Crissy Field I watched san being blown in a foot high stream just off the beach. I was worried about the sand getting into my camera, :-)

There is something about rain that makes awesome sleeping conditions.

I really like the pier shot. I've never seen that one. Just last week I finally found the famous one you has posted last time :D It looks like I have another location to add my my ever growing list.

Nice shot of the Lighthouse. You got the sky I was hoping for last time. I'm hoping for a break in the rain to get back out & try again.

Nice double exposure. Is that you running across the beach? Perhaps an entry for the next challenge?
