View Full Version : Slideshow - first slide takes long time to load

Not sure why, but the first slide of the slideshow on my homepage takes about 10 seconds to load. I'd like it to load immediately. I've looked through the code (particularly the section on timing), but can't figure out what needs to change.
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks.

In the instructions, you can set
firstSlideUrl
or
quickStart
Did you set either of these?

I didn't set either of these, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Just added both to my code. Worked with a varying degree of success. The first slide comes on right away...that's good. But it starts in a different position than the subsequent slides. Not so good. I tinkered with the location of the code, but that wasn't the issue.
Do I need to add something else to the code?

My quickstart is set to true, but I too find the that the first slide is really slow in loading. I also have it set to only load/show one photo versus a slide show - but the photo can take a awhile to load.
EDIT: ok, I changed my firstslideurl blank.src; to firstslideurl false; and that really sped things up. Now it's like 2-3 seconds versus 10. Quickstart was already set correctly.

Hi Guys,
Ask this in the slideshow thread, perhaps BWG has an idea on how to improve. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

The original problem (first slide loading too slowly) was solved with your solution, Andy. Thanks! The problem I'm having now is something completely different. The slideshow starts right away, but the first slide is positioned differently than the subsequent slides (i.e. it's lower on the page) and the smugmug footer info is missing.
I've tried tinkering with the code, but nothing works.
So, the question remains...How do I get the firstSlideUrl slide to be in the same position as the slideshow slides?
Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can help.
