Last weekend (Nov 4-5 2006) Moorpark Rotary Club held an annual reenactment event in the farm fields. It was a two day event, I spent almost the whole Saturday there. Here are some shots from the event.

The third battle was set after the sunset, so it was pretty challenging to shoot. Still I managed to get a few shots.

Shooting re-enactments are fun and can allow time travelling just like you said, Nik.

Great series. I enjoyed being there with you.

Great Canon firing. That shot clearly demonstrates how deadly muzzle loading canon were, and why the troopers worked so hard to bring them along onto the field.

Since it was a two-day event, the decisive battle was on Sunday, while I was there only on Saturday. So I plain don't know :scratch

And yes, it was fun, albeit a bit windy and a tad dusty - baaad for changing lenses. By the end of the day the black hood of my 70-200 was almost as offwhite as the lens itself...:huh

Cheers! :1drink

Nikolai,
These are very nice shots of an important moment in the history of the United States of America as independent country.
Historical recreations are very successful when they are nice and faithful.
This seems to be the case. :D
I wish I was there to take some shots, but - I'm sure - not so beautifully taken as yours.
All the best Nikolai. :thumb

The event organizers have chosen my picture as the "title" for their 2006 photo collection:ivar

Thank you very much, I do appreciate the compliment!
And I'm positive your shots would be much better - judging by your travel photos:thumb

Thanks! :thumb

As you can see, the majority of actions happened pretty far 300 ft away at least. So it was not *THAT* loud, as opposed to the last year event, when the battery was located right next to the spectators. :D

Cheers! :1drink
