OK, it's Dec 16th and nobody has posted any photos of holiday lights yet?? I saw Andy's Hannukah ones, but I'm talking about the good old outdoor holiday lights and decorations that my kids love to drive around and look at. It strikes me that they aren't the easist subject to do well, so let's see how you folks would do it.

Here's my 1st attempt, this is my neighbor's house as seen from my driveway:

As you can see, I've set the bar pretty low...:D Tv.6 Av3.1 iso50 90mm-ish

Let me have some tips and tricks for doing this right!

Congrats on the new house! :clap Nice shots too. How'd you get the star effect on the lights, a filter?

Dj....

No filter, just a F8 and long expo. The second shot is a three shot blend for more dynamic range.

Thanks for the comments!

Oh, so your name isn't "Cletus Marino" ? :D

I have to admit, that's the first time I've ever seen anyone put their name as part of the display. :huh

I have to admit, that's the first time I've ever seen anyone put their name as part of the display. :huh Yeah, and it's not too often you see a Chicago Bull's logo or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish guy done in Christmas lights. I made the image clickable so you can see a larger version of the picture. The bull is pretty easy to see, the fighting Irish guy is tougher to spot.
