Yesterday proved to be a unique opportunity for me. A vacation day with beautiful fall weather doesn't happen often. I thought I would take advantage and go for a walk through my home town of Perth Ontario.
Since you could not come to Perth I thought I would try and bring Perth to you.

Perth is a pretty little town in the Ottawa Valley. It is a very family oriented town. In the centre of the town is the town hall with this beautiful old clock tower.

In the centre of town, behind the town hall is a park called Stewart Park. This park is famous for festivals and activities on most weekends in the summer. Of these, the Stewart Park Music Festival is my favourite.

The park is surrounded by the Tay River which runs through Perth.

Many of the homes and businesses in Perth are stone buildings. They were built by the Scottish Settlers who came to Canada to build the Rideau Canal System.

The clock tower can be seen above the trees
in the park.

This old stone building is a restaraunt with a balcony that extends over the Tay River. Meals with kids can actually be relaxing as the kids are pre-occupied with feeding bread to the fish.

The new Perth Library can be seen in the background. It replaces the old Library that burned to the ground many years ago.

Old Stone houses just wouldn't be complete without old stone fences!

I certainly did! Thanks for posting these great pictures of your lovely town. I recently had the opportunity to visit Perth, WA. Now I have another to visit. Thanks for adding to my list of things to do. . . .

What a delightful little town. I didn't know there was a Perth in Canada, but it's not surprising. Next time I go to Canada, I'll go further east than Winnipeg!

Very nice pictures. Great colors and it seems like a great place to take photographs.
I wish palm trees and cactus changed colors!

Great photos and what a beautiful little town! Makes me want to find a little cafe on that street and have some coffee and pastries while enjoying the fall weather.

Thanks for the kind words. It really is a beautiful little town. Each season brings something different and enjoyable.
Next up is the dead of winter. January/February have lots of minus 30 degree celsius days.
Perhaps you could show me your towns as well....that would be really cool....almost like visiting.

Wow, I drove through Perth just last week on my way to Ottawa. I stayed on Hwy 7 so all I saw were gas stations, fast food joints and strip malls. I had no idea Perth was such a pretty town. I'll definitely have to stop and take a look around the next time I'm out that way.

Great photos! Thanks for posting! :thumb:thumb

I was transferred to this little town back in the late 80's. I arrived on a very dark, cold and wet fall night. The first thing I saw was the same stretch of 7 hwy that you drove by. You can just imagine my panick attack. Anyway, I quickly discovered the beauty of Perth and now I can't see myself living anywhere else.
Thanks for your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

Wow, beautiful town!! I don't really live in a town and the closet one burned down in the early 1900s. They rebuilt, but it's not the cute, quaint historic towns found in so many other places.

Thanks for the photographic tour of Perth, again beautiful! It looks like a great place to spend the weekend relaxing, shopping, and eating. :)
