View Full Version : Another San Francisco Pano

Anand and I are in the same Bay Area photo group, so I'm going to post my take of the San Francisco skyline. I chose a different route on the post processing with cooler colors. There are 8 shots stitched together.
This is my first ever panorama. I took this with a table top tripod mounted on the nearest trash can. This was mistakenly shot at ISO 1000! I HATE it when I do that!!
Since Sunday, I have bought a great new tripod & head. Hopefully this will keep me off the trash cans :)
Any comments/ suggestions are always welcome.

Beautiful...great view of the SF skyline...are you going to try it again at a lower iso?

That is my next planned shot. I made many rookie mistakes on this first attempt. The auto WB about killed me, thank god for RAW. This image is also a little soft. I put the lens in manual focus mode & just cranked it to infinity not knowing that it was the wrong thing to do. I will have to be very careful of my focus next time.
With my step-by-step panorama checklist I created after the fact, hopefully I can get a good one & print it 13x44 to mat & frame.
Thanks for the kind words.

I really like your sky and reflections :). Have to revisit my post processing :)

That's a great picture, for ISO 1000 it doesn't show much noise.
BTW which photo group are you with?

I like that you were at the same location shooting the same pano yet your
interpretations are different than Anand's (both are good).
Very nice!

It was a group started by Nikon D70 users, but quickly moved away from that & anyone can come along. We have a small forum run by one of the members.

I was wondering where you'd gone. All is revealed, now! Looks like a nice group of folks.

I've been here every day reading the some of the posts, just didn't have time to comment.
Things are much slower now, and I'm really enjoying the photography the last week. I have more to post when I get back from work :)
Later,
Dave
