Bham,
Man, you captured some really nice faces and action with many of these. Very good work! :thumb :thumb

My only comment, and something that really stood out to my eyes, was the backgrounds seem too sharp. And therefore, too busy. Which also causes your subjects (the players) to not standout as much as they should (subject isolation). What aperture(s) were you using?

The minimum my lens would give me, 5.6 at its most. All but one are straight out of the camera. One was lightened some. About half have some cropping.

Yeah I really want a 70-200 2.8L IS. I would even take the the non IS. It would sure help that out.

Super job! Excellent framing on the action shots. How'd you get such good access?

Photo pass. I got access for all home games football and basketball. I will post more this season.

Bham,

Nice timing. From what I can tell from these small image files, they look very good.
Others already pointed out the background issue. Next time, can you post some larger versions? It's difficult to judge sharpness and such from this size. For instance, it looks like you've captured some good faces - but to me the difference between a good shot and a great shot is whether those faces are sharp and well exposed.

Also curious - since you have them watermarked, whether you plan on selling them? Just bring it up because NCAA has specific rules regarding copyright and selling images of their athletes.

I did post to large because I didn't want to make the thread hard to see. I can go back and post a larger size. I'll do that soon.

Yeah I know about the NCAA rule and I don't or won't sell until the athletes graduate. But its amazing how many people break this rule all the time. I have seen a ton of images posted in fan forums of shots from the crowd that were ok and some good, that were hosted by all different types of sites that were for sale. Not that these people are making a drop in a bucket it from it but in this age with cameras becoming so miniature and also getting some good resolution and features I have seen a few fans try and sell a few. Funny though how newspapers carry images and then offer them for sale immediately. I guess I shoud call my self a newspaper and then I could sell them. Its not like newspapers are non-profit organizations or anything.

There are probably a few that could use some sharpening etc. I haven't had time to do anything yet. These are straight out the camera.

I like that idea. Print your own press pass :wink (yes people I know it's not that easy)!
